Trussardi Pleated Leather Trousers

Curator's Note

A beautifully cut pair of leather trousers by Trussardi, dating to the mid-to-late 1980s. Made in Italy from exceptionally soft, lightweight leather in a muted taupe-grey, they are cut high on the waist with double front pleats and a long, straight leg.

The extended waistband fastens to one side with a leather-covered button, while finely bound pockets and precise topstitching give the trousers an almost tailored finish. Despite the structure of the cut, the suppleness of the leather allows them to fall with the ease of cloth.

Leather was fundamental to Trussardi under Nicola Trussardi, who transformed the house from its origins as a specialist glove maker into one of the defining Italian lifestyle houses of the 1980s. These trousers are particularly representative of that period: traditional leather craftsmanship translated into clean, sophisticated ready-to-wear.
