1986 Claude Montana Pour Gibo Spring Runway Tailored Coat

A documented runway piece from Claude Montana’s Spring 1986 collection, this black tailored coat captures the precision and controlled exaggeration of Montana’s mid-1980s work.

Cut with strong, defined shoulders and a sharply shaped waist, the double-breasted silhouette extends into a long, clean line through the front. At the back, a fitted panel closely follows the body before releasing into a deep inverted pleat, creating volume and movement below the waist while preserving the sculpted upper silhouette. Wide notched lapels, a single chest pocket and long sleeves finished with press-stud cuffs complete the restrained tailoring.

The cotton outer has a subtle structured lustre that gives the black considerable depth, while the unusually spare detailing allows the cut itself to dominate. Made in Italy for Montana’s Pour Gibo line.
