A striking late-1980s evening dress by Bruce Oldfield, constructed from black silk and wool matelassé with scrolling floral embroidery in gold metallic thread. The sculptural neckline sits away from the body in a broad horizontal band, suspended from shaped shoulder sections to create an unusual layered, almost architectural effect. A long fitted bodice extends below the natural waist before opening into a softly rounded skirt, creating a pronounced dropped-waist line and subtly exaggerated hips.
